Goals and objectives
The industry advisory groups aim to:
- enable SkillsTech Australia to consult directly with industry on the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of its training operations and services
- enable greater communication and understanding between industry and Skills Tech Australia
- provide an avenue for independent advice to the Institute Council
- provide an opportunity to investigate and generate new ideas and innovations in VET
- directly support SkillsTech Australia in gaining industry sponsorship and donations that directly support SkillsTech Australia's state-wide training efforts
- advocate on behalf of SkillsTech Australia in seeking to influence federal and state VET agendas
- link with the Department of Education and Training, and Centres of Excellence, on issues pertaining to specific VET agendas within SkillsTech Australia and industry areas
- overview industry surveys as required
- support SkillsTech Australia in its lead centre obligations
- provide advice on the setup and design of training facilities including basic equipment levels required
- develop potential skills-based training courses
- develop teaching/learning resources
- assist/advise in establishing required partnerships for capability enhancement
- provide industry market research including labour market information
- develop training in emerging technologies and techniques
- develop skills pathways
- review and audit delivery program effectiveness
- advise on the development of task-based training plans and assessment strategies.
Memberships
SkillsTech Australia invites industry and non industry representatives from the following groups to apply for membership:

lead vocational teachers or appointed teachers (at least one from each delivery campus/training centre)

curriculum development and resource development experts

tradespersons/workshop forepersons

business owners or CEOs
-
industry association representatives
-
union representatives
-
SkillsTech Australia business managers and senior staff members.
