Visa requirements

Students planning to study in Australia for more than three months will need to apply for a student visa.

A 'student' visa is a temporary visa issued to non-Australian residents. It is only granted to students who are enroled in a registered, full time course in Australia. 'Short stay' visas are available for students studying in Australia for less than 3 months.

International students are generally issued with a multiple entry visa for the duration of their study in Australia. This enables students to travel to and from Australia within the visa period.

On this visa members of a student's immediate family (spouse and unmarried dependent children under 18 years of age) may accompany them to Australia and will be considered to be in the same visa class. School-age dependants accompanying students will be required to pay full fees if they are enroled in a school in Australia.

For more information visit the  Department of Immigration and Citizenship   (DIAC)
